Being a follower and a disciple of Jesus means that He has qualified you to walk in God’s healing power to heal the sick. He can and wants to use you to release His healing power and change the world around you. Then the question becomes, what do you believe about you qualification to carry His power? One may think that it is for the spiritually elite or for the apostles or those who are called to the healing ministry. The truth is, we are all called to heal. Mark 16:14-18 Jesus is commissioning the disciples to go and preach the gospel to every creature. And in vs. 18 He states “they will lay their hands on the sick and they will recover.” The (they) in this scripture is us because we believe and are baptize in Him. Signs and wonder will follow those who believe (vs 17). Jesus great commission is for all of us not just a few.
Having an understanding of the truth that healing the sick is for all of us is a biblical foundation. Here are some interesting facts about healing as a biblical foundation from Graham Jones Ministries:
THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS:
In the New Testament, Jesus is the believer's model of faith and practice. His healing and deliverance ministry is the pattern that you should follow in your own ministry. Out of 3,774 verses in the four New Testament Gospels, 484 relate specifically to the healing of physical and mental illnesses and the resurrection of the dead. In Mark, 209 verses out of 666 relate to the miracles of Jesus. Of the 1,257 narrative verses in the Gospels 484 (38.5 percent) are devoted to describing healing miracles.
“For I came down from Heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me." (John 6:38)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8)
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the Devil." (1 John 3:8)
The works Jesus did pleased the Father: "...for I do always those things that please Him." (John 8:29)
This means that when you minister healing and deliverance as Jesus did you are pleasing the Father, speaking His Word, doing His will, and destroying the work of the enemy.
He has commissioned all believers to do the same works that He did while he was here on the earth. Can you imagine if all of us would get the reality of the Greater One living inside of every believer? What an amazing increase of God’s power and presence would be here on the earth today!!!! The earth would never be the same. He came not just to save us but I believe He has more for us. He has called us to go into all the world with demonstration and with power. To heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out demons.
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. (John 14:12)
